A Unique car for a Unique car show

Picture
In the 80’s a horsepower war raged in the black forests of Germany... Mercedes struck first with the 5.6 liter V8 560sec later tuned by AMG and turned into a monster simply called the Hammer  ...which was, for a time, the fastest production sedan on Earth,

BMW counters with the 850.. An Iconic car packed with bleeding edge technology for it’s day...like the first V-12 engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox on a road car. But the war was arguably started by Porsche’s 928...
But why?

Why break from the 911’s unchallenged perfection?
Why build porsche’s first coupe powered by a front-mounted V8 engine?
Why let Wolfgang Möbius (who may have THE best name EVER) create the iconic body work?
Why?...

Because they could...because the 928 was Steve McQueen to the 911’s Sean Connery.. Bigger badder and just as good looking...

Episode 2: The Phantom Menace

Here is the rest of the rally.. and one fully chromed out Shelby Cobra!

Episode #1 the 9th Annual Tour d' Orange

Picture
The Tour d' Orange is a lot of things ... a car show, a road rally, a gathering of the most diverse collection of road going contraptions since the days of the Iron Bottom, and a place where gearheads of all manner gather to meet, make friends, and enjoy each other.   At least 300 cars of all shapes and sizes were there,
and when the moment came that they ALL started their engines the air was alive with purrs and growls, and barks from from engines that ranged from Tiny ...to Titanic...

We had a lot of fun that day...I'd like to thank my hosts Joe Tong, Tamika Katon-Donegal, and K.C. Sterling for helping me to pull off this episode.  I thought they were great.
